Introduction to my self build motorhome based on a Citroen Relay (Same as a Peugeot Boxer, Fiat Ducato, Citroen Jumper and Ram ProMaster)
Towards the end of 2016, I was aware that my estate car was beginning to reach the end of its designed life having covered over 180000 miles. Whilst I was still using it daily, I was starting to spend more money on replacement parts. Consequently, I decided it was time to look for a replacement vehicle. My work involves frequent stays away from home. Therefore it made sense to replace the estate car with a home on wheels!
After some research into existing models, it soon became clear that a motorhome meeting my requirements was out of my budget. Consequently I decided to build one myself!
After a lot of hard work, my motorhome is largely completed and I am able to enjoy the freedom it gives. Freedom to visit stunning locations like the Cairngorms! Click on the photo to read about my recent trip to Scotland.
Self Build Motorhome Guide.
A self build motorhome is a rewarding project that takes a considerable amount of time and research. However the payback is a well built, reliable vehicle offering many years of future enjoyment!
Throughout the project, I have taken photographs. These photographs along with my extensive first hand experience form the basis of this guide. I hope that this information may be of interest to others who are undertaking a similar project.
Importantly, I cannot accept any responsibility for damage or injury caused by following my methods and or procedures. My content is intended purely as a record of what I have learned along the way. Enjoy.
I have made a number of videos documenting how I have completed various tasks. Please click the subscribe button on YouTube to keep up-to-date with the project. The following video acts as an introduction to the project.
